T&T Honda

Surpassing 250,000 miles on a single car  is a remarkable feat. Paul Habib, Jr. did that on his 2006 Honda Civic in just the first two years he owned it. This month, five years after buying it, he'll cross 750,000 miles. His goal? To hit over 1,000,000 miles.

You know that new car smell? It's actually not such a good thing. The source of that smell is volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that you'll often find in plastics including those that are fitted to car interiors. VOCs have been linked to a variety of health problems.

Fortunately, auto manufacturers are taking steps to reduce the VOCs in the plastics used on the dash, doors, and so on. We're pleased to report that the Ecology Center has named the Honda Civic as the lowest emitter of VOCs.  The CR-Z is also in the 10 best list.

The Honda Odssy Touring Elite was named by Parenting Magazine as one of the year's "Smartest Family Cars."

Joe LoCicero of Norway, Maine has done it. Joe just recently clocked over 1,000,000 miles (or 1,600, 000 km) on his 1990 Honda Accord. Honda helped Joe and his wife Sharon celebrate the event by presenting him with a brand new 2012 Honda Accord. Congratulations, Joe!

The Rick Hansen 25th Anniversary Relay started August 24 in Cape Spear, Newfoundland. The relay will retrace the Canadian leg of the original Man in Motion tour but will include 7,000 participants this time traveling by foot, by wheelchair and in a fleet of vehicles supplied by Honda Canada.

The 14 vehicle fleet includes four Acura MDXs, six Honda Pilots, one Honda Ridgeline and three Honda Odysseys that have been modified to accommodate wheelchairs.

The tour will highlight the progress made in making the world a more accessible place for those with mobility challenges. It's great fit with Honda's long term focus on mobility solutions which has included such innovations as the ASIMO humanoid robot as well as the Stride Management Assist and Body Weight Support Assist devices.

The revamped 2012 Honda Ridgeline will be available with a unique Sport Package which features the following: exclusive black 18" ally wheels, black honeycomb grille, and black headlight and brake light housings.

Ten of Honda's 14 North American plants, including Ontario, are now operating as zero-waste-to-landfill facilities. The remainder are functioning with "virtually zero" waste-to-landfill. This important achievement is part of Honda's Green Factory program, developed in order to reduce the environmental footprint of its manufacturing operations.

The new Canadian built 2012 Honda Civic Si served as the official pace car for the IZOD Indy Car Series that started last weekend at the Honda Indy Toronto. The Si Coupe was modified by Honda Performance Development, Honda's racing company North America, founded in 1993

Honda scores again with JD Power. Honda received its best ever ranking in initial quality from JD with seven models earning the highest ranking in their respective segments. The 2008 Fit and CRV were also ranked as the most dependable subcompact and compact SUV in a 3 year survey from JD Power.

Paul Tracy will race in this year's Honda Indy Toronto and Edmonton Indy, in support of Make-A-Wish® Canada. Tracy will drive the #8 Make-A-Wish Canada/Dragon Racing/Honda/Dallara/Firestone car. Dragon Racing is an IndyCar Race team, owned by Jay Penske and sponsored by Honda Canada.  

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS will conduct seven Honda Super Camps across seven cities from June through August, as they continue their commitment to amateur baseball across Canada.

In conjunction with title sponsor HONDA CANDA Inc., the Super Camps will commence in Vancouver and will continue through the summer with camps being held in Prince George, London, Halifax, Ottawa, Calgary, and concluding in Toronto.

Each Honda Super Camp presented by the Blue Jays Baseball Academy, will be three days in length and run from 8am-1pm each day. Each participant will receive top level instruction in all aspects of the game from Blue Jays alumni and Baseball Canada instructors. Registration will be available on bluejays.com/camps, with a cost of $150 per child and will
limited to 150 children aged 8-14. In addition, working with local baseball associations, the Toronto Blue Jays, through Jays Care Foundation, will donate registration fees for a limited number of players in each of the seven camps to help remove any financial barriers to participation.

The Calgary Camp will take place from Aug 8 to 10 at Absolute Sports. The instructors will include Blue Jay alumni Duane Ward, Mark Eichhorn, and Rance Mulliniks.
